Testing & Validation
DTI exposes its transmission systems to a series of tests using test rig, rollerbench and proving ground facilities.
Transmission instrumentation
The transmission is equipped with a number of sensors including speed pick-ups, pressure and temperature transducers, shift lever position encoders and acceleration sensors, most of which are used for diagnosis and some for control purposes. During the testing phase the various levels of drivetrain controllers are implemented appropriate signals measured using dSPACE in combination with Matlab Simulink.
Functional testing
Initial testing is performed on a no-load test rig to ascertain functionality of the transmission mechanics and its controls.
Spinloss measurements
The no-load testrig is used to get a first indication of transmission efficiency through the measurement of spinloss.
Load measurements
DTI's transmissions are subjected to a series of tests, to ascertain various aspects such as efficiency, noise and vibration, shfiting performance and thermal behaviour. Loads up to 70 kW can be applied in-house, which means most tests for A and B-segment applications can be performed. Higher power level testing is outsourced at surrounding companies.
