Activities & scope
The activities within DTI are divided between customer projects and R&D projects, the latter usually supported by governmental subsidies and performed together with (strategic) cooperation partners.
DTI can supply on 3 types of customer projects:
• Supply of turn-key A, B-sample developments of a DTI-system in the customer’s application
• Supply of new innovations & A, B-sample upon customer’s abstract requirements
• Supply of specific high-level expertise in various fields of transmission- and control design
Next to these activity types DTI can support in finding the right production suppliers for components and systems. Currently, DTI is forming alliances with medium-scale production partners for supply of DTI’s transmission products to the automotive industry.
Within the R&D projects, a wide range of activities are performed:
• Requirements and specifications studies
• Concept generation, first principles and functionalities
• (world wide) patenting
• Concept feature and value appraisals
• Functional simulation, detailed simulation, analysis and optimization
• Concept designs and prototyping
• Control design
• Test-rig and vehicle testing
• Demonstrations and appraisals for industrialisation
The scope of all activities is currently limited to passenger cars and trucks as well as proto, A and B-sample projects. After such projects, production and SOP developments are usually performed by the customer and its main suppliers. Requests for activities and applications outside this primary scope are handled if there is sufficient or supplementing technological and strategic fit with the main scope.
